The Way To Not Choose Your Anti Aging Skin Care Products

The anti aging and skin care industries are huge. Millions or billions of dollars are spent by consumers on anti aging skin care treatments, and so there is big money to be made. And there are plenty of big companies in the anti aging and cosmetics industry that take advantage of this.

But sadly many of the anti aging skin care products that you buy just don’t really do very much. Unfortunately the cosmetics and skin care and anti aging industries are unregulated in the US and the companies can put just about anything they want in their products without proving that they work, and even without showing that the ingredients are safe for people to use.

So as well as the fact that many skin care products don’t work they can contain dangerous ingredients.

But despite this they sell huge amounts of these products that advertise their ability to make you look younger. Everywhere you look you see products telling you they will make you younger and look great.

So the challenge for the consumer is to navigate through all the hype and actually find a range of anti-aging skin care products that work and don’t contain potentially dangerous ingredients.

Here’s how not to choose a good anti aging product.

1. Make sure you don’t buy any anti-aging products that contain fragrances. The big companies put fragrances in their skin care ranges because they know we like to look younger and smell good.

But there’s 2 problems. Firstly the skin care cream you’re buying probably won’t do very much to make you look younger.

Secondly, fragrances are not good chemicals to put on your skin. Because that’s what they are, chemicals that smell good, and many of them aren’t that good for you. It’s the same with perfumes, for example, but if you apply a perfume it’s only a small squirt on one spot, it’s not massaged all over your face where it disappears, into your blood. So just use a perfume instead.

2. Don’t buy skin care creams that have collagen in them. Now this at first glance appears counterintuitive doesn’t it? Everyone knows that collagen, or the breakdown of collagen in your skin, leads to sagging and wrinkling of the skin so putting more collagen on must be good.

Yes and no. Yes we need to replace that lost collagen, and no adding it to the bottles of anti-aging products like those moisturizers and day creams and night creams and so on doesn’t work. It doesn’t work because collagen molecules are too large to penetrate the skin, and so it just stays on the surface.

The only way to increase the levels of collagen in our skin is to stimulate the skin to make more collagen itself.

So if putting the collagen in the bottle does nothing why is it in the bottle and why are those big name celebrities on TV telling you how well it works? Because they know there’s lots of money to be made. That having collagen in the bottles sells lots of bottles.

Even if it’s got dangerous ingredients in it like fragrances and doesn’t do all that much it still sells fast.

That’s marketing.

But there is a problem. It costs megabucks to pay that celebrity to go on TV and tell you how great the products are, and those fancy bottles cost a lot.

So even though that anti aging treatment doesn’t do much, other than make you smell better, it costs a bomb. And people assume if it costs that much it has to work.

There’s 2 things to avoid when looking for a good anti aging skin care treatment. There’s more, but that’s for another time, or visit my website.

Does all this mean that you should give up on anti aging creams and products because they don’t work? Not at all. There are excellent anti aging products that work fine, produced from ingredients from plants that are safe to use.

But they aren’t made by the big name brands but by small niche companies that you’ve probably never heard of. They don’t spend on TV advertising which is why the products are moderately priced and why you’ve never heard of them.

So don’t despair. I’ve given you some things to look for when buying an anti aging skin care product, and told you that there are excellent products available. Now it’s your turn to find them.

Age – the Bane of Bodies – for Men

Uncountable paragraphs are written for women about how to look younger, feel younger, turn back the clock. Although there are also articles on the same subject for men, rarely is the basic cause of aging discussed or remedies suggested. Working out at the gym is good. Eating a healthy diet is good. But if you’re over 30 and you’d like to do more to handle symptoms of age, read on.

You have no choice but to get older. Time passes. But after age 30 the endocrine system in the body slows down – the glands gradiently produce less and less of those youthful hormones. Symptoms of age begin to appear.

When most people speak of hormones they think of male and female hormones – testosterone and estrogen. But there are other hormones related to the aging process – human growth hormone and thyroid hormone and others. A man can experience low libido, loss of hair, excess unwanted weight, memory loss, weakness of muscles and other symptoms.

Exercise and healthful diet can play a big part in keeping a body youthful. Vitamins, minerals and other nutritional supplements are also important.

But if the hormones cause these symptoms of old age, and the hormones are dwindling away, why not also replace the hormones? Women have had success with hormone replacement for years – why not for men, too?

Hormone replacement has been shown over and over to be a successful treatment for men, not only for stopping symptoms of age, but in many cases reversing them. If you already have an exercise program and good eating habits, continue them. If not, get some help to get onto an exercise program and good diet. But – very important – see a doctor and find out how to get onto hormone replacement therapy.

When you see a competent doctor concerning hormone replacement, the doctor will give you some medical tests. These tests determine how much of which hormones you would need to restore the hormone levels to a time when you were younger. This varies from person to person. An important thing you should know is that when getting hormone replacements, make sure they are bioidentical – that is to say, not synthetic, but biologically exactly the same as the hormones the body produces.

You can enjoy the rest of your life and stop or even reverse those signs of age. You can feel happy, youthful, energetic. You can do something about that extra weight, hair loss, weakness and/or low libido. Naturally. See your doctor.

Caring for Oily Skin Organically

Just because you suffer from excessively oily skin doesn’t mean you have to resort to harsh chemicals and cleansers. In fact, these often have just the opposite effect, irritating the skin so much that it releases even more oil. Avoid this vicious cycle by using only organic methods to remove the oil and balance out your skin.

Cleansing First off, you’ll need to make sure that you are treating your skin properly. It needs to be cleaned on a daily basis, but one mistake that many people with oily skin make is to wash their faces 3-5 times a day, or even more. This only causes more oil to be produced, which worsens the problem.

The best way to avoid this issue is to simply keep your cleansing routine to twice a day. Once when you wake up and before going to bed. Start with a basic routine, soap and water. The soap you use should be organic and simple, there’s no need to get all fancy and the chemicals in many soaps will cause further skin issues. Instead, look for an all natural bar that is plain or uses oats for a little extra exfoliation and oil absorption. This can be used twice a day, since it won’t be irritating.

Be sure to use plenty of water when rinsing your face, to wash away toxins and leave the skin feeling toned and refreshed. You should pat the skin dry, rather than rub it.

Other Treatments Often, soap and water isn’t enough to reduce the oil on the face, so you may need to try something in addition to this routine. Here are a few things you can add.

Splash your face with witch hazel. This is a natural astringent that can help reduce the amount of oil. It also firms up and tones the skin. You can use this after your cleansing routine.

Use aloe vera. The gel from this fleshy plant is a natural antiseptic, as well as a moisturizer and is well known for its healing properties. Spread some of the gel directly from the plant leaf or purchase organic gel. Don’t forget to use an oil free body lotion to help keep your skin moisturized as well.

Try a steam bath. Steaming your face is a great way to release excess oil and open pores. You can use many different ingredients, but herbs like peppermint, lemongrass or lavender work very well. Add them to a basin of very hot water, drape a towel over your head and lean your face over the basin or sink to allow the steam to rise up and settle on your face. It’s best to do this for only 5-10 min. since too much heat isn’t good for the skin, either.

Use a mask. There are a number of masks on the market, but a few are very useful. Mud or clay masks, for example, are ideal for sucking extra grease or oil out of the skin and can be used up to 3 times a week. Rinse with plenty of water. You can also make your own by blending cucumber, honey and yogurt and spreading the mixture on your face. Honey is a natural antiseptic, as well, so will get rid of any bacteria. Tomato puree can also be used, as can a mixture of honey and oatmeal.

Just because you have oily skin doesn’t mean you have to live with a constant shine on your face. Use these organic methods to keep the oil under control and enjoy getting out and about.

Skin Care For Wrinkles – Is The Most Expensive Really The Best?

What are you really paying for when it comes to buying really well advertised skin care for wrinkles? Why, the advertising of course. Many skin care products are widely advertised in glossy magazines, on television and all kinds of media and they are also terribly expensive, yet don’t seem to work as they should!

The advertising campaigns that these large cosmetic houses use are unbelievably expensive, so in many instances the users of these products is not actually paying for the product, but they are paying for the glamorous advertising campaign on TV and in glossy magazines.

Paying a fortune for skin care is not the key to success, getting the best results from skin care for wrinkles is!! I know I have really gotten tired of promised results that have never materialized and so must you. There are some very good products on the market that will do exactly what you want them to do without having to cost a huge fortune.

Improving the quality of your skin includes firming, toning, evening out discolorations, and reducing fine lines and bags under the eyes. If you find a product which can achieve all these results, you will have found a product which suites your own skin type. Regular use of the product will allow you to have a far more youthful appearance. When you look younger, you feel younger too.

The biggest problem is that there are so many different products available it is difficult to know where to make your choices. As with any product, a consumer must educate themselves regarding skin care for wrinkles. A wise purchase is generally a good purchase and if a skin product can do what it says it does, this is very valuable.

The other option is cosmetic surgery. There is no doubt that this multi-billion dollar industry has it merits. But only for the people who are willing to risk dangerous surgery to achieve the results they want. I am not one of those people and there are many others like me in the world.

Where Do Free Radicals Come From?

Have you heard of the Free Radical Theory of Aging? It’s actually one of the most accepted theories out there right now that explains the process of cellular and system degeneration. what it reveolves around is how your body acquires and produces unstable molecules called free radicals which, when left unchecked can cause damage to your body at the cellular level. As these damaged cells accumulate, the systems that they are a part of start to break down.

The solution for free radicals are antioxidants which are molecules that are capable of donating an election without either the need – or the strength- to steal them from other molecules. They break the chain reaction, defending our cells against this source of damage and this cause of aging.

Our bodies are machines and like other machines, the breakdowns start small (at the level of our cells) and build up until systems – like our immune system or respiratory system or nervous system – can no longer function properly with so many little bits of them clogged with cellular garbage and just not working properly.

But where do these damaged molecules – these free radicals come from? Two places actually. We pick them up from the outside world through sources like air pollution, drugs, toxins like cigarette smoke and pesticides. We also make them ourselves, because the necessary chemical processes that run our bodies porduce by-products primarily as oxyradicals- free radicals.

There are four different ways that our bodies create free radicals – oxidants.

Normal Metabolism – I’ll keep the long scientific words out of this explanation because they’re just too hard to spell. But suffice to say that our body, in the process of creating energy uses oxygen as fuel and converts it to water, but in the process the oxygen molecule is not completely and cleanly utilized. There are by products- our own version of nuclear waste- So that’s one – huge source of free radicals.

Our own white blood cells use oxidants to combat viruses and parasites and bacteria and chronic infections will expose our tissues to free radicals. Some processes that break down fatty acids and other molecules can result in hydrogen peroxide escaping from the antioxidants that should have broken it down, and damaging other cells.

These processes are always going on in our body and happening in millions of cells. It’s no small wonder that antioxidant supplements have become so popular and no small miracle that our body also produces some superb antioxidants like glutathione and CoEnzymeQ10 to help us deal with them.

In an effort to combat the external sources of oxidants – like drugs, pesticides, cigarette smoke and other foreign and toxic chemicals our bodies creates an exzyme called Cytochrome P450. However, in calling up this necessary enzyme, we create a by-product, free radicals. The toxins damage us on their own, and we damage ourselves to fight them. It ages us.

In the battle to support your health, comfort and longevity, antioxidants are your bodies number one defense against the damage caused by free radicals. You can support your good health by eating antioxidant rich foods, supplementing with Vitamins C, E and C0Q10 and providing your body with the necessary substances to suppport the production of Glutathione- which is argued by many to be the most important of all the antioxidants. Indeed, it’s well recognized as the Master Antioxidant.

Anna Ruth consults with Whole Earth Health which markets a number of ourstanding natural health products, including MAXGXL, an L-glutathione precursor. Through the increased production of glutathione – a master antioxidant and anti inflammatory, this products has helped to provide natural pain relief to many people suffering from a variety of conditions.
